In-Home Caregiver Application for Referrals within the Greater New Orleans Area

Join The Registry

We have the deepest appreciation and respect for the caregivers who serve our community. Our philosophy and accreditation standards allow us to attract the most experienced, dedicated caregivers to our registry. As an independent contractor, you enjoy many of the following benefits:
  • Set your own schedule
  • A diverse group of clients and referral settings
  • Set your own rates*
  • More referral opportunities

*Dependable care reserves the right to exclude caregivers who’s rates are over the normal or customary rates for the geographic area we service.

Eligibility Requirements

The following is a list of the current minimum requirements to join our registry:

In-Home Caregiver Requirements:
  • Two years of verifiable caregiving experience
  • Current TB test with negative results, conducted within the last six months
  • You must pass a national criminal background.
  • You must pass a drug screen that we administer onsite and can be purchased for $8

Kid Caregiver Requirements:

  • Two years of verifiable child care experience
  • Current child AND infant CPR certification
  • You must pass a national criminal background check. We can process on your behalf for $27
  • You must pass a drug screen that we administer onsite and can be purchased for $8

If you can meet the above requirements, the first step is to fill out a registration application for review. Please allow two weeks for your application to be considered. If after two weeks you have not heard from a Dependable representative, you may follow-up on your application by calling 504-486-5044 and following the prompts to “check the status of your application.”

Pre-Orientation

Once your registration application has been reviewed and your caregiving experience has been verified, you will be invited to a pre-orientation session within our office. The following can help you prepare for the session:
What to bring with you
  1. Current driver’s license or state ID card and social security card or a current U.S. passport
  2. Copy of your current TB test with negative results, conducted within the last six months
  3. $35 total (cash or money order ONLY) – $27 for the national criminal background check and $8 for the drug screen*
  4. OPTIONAL – any certification documents (CNA, PCA, DSW, CPI, CPR, etc.) or proof of car insurance (should you plan to transport clients in your own vehicle)

*Please note: you must refrain from eating or drinking anything 15 minutes prior to taking the oral drug screen (this includes water, mints, gum, etc.).

Orientations are typically scheduled once a month in a group setting. Once you have successfully completed the pre-orientation session, you will qualify for the next scheduled orientation. The following list will help you to prepare for orientation:

  2. Be prepared to fill out some additional paperwork and agreements
  3. Allow for 1.5 – 2 hours to complete the orientation
  4. Please DO NOT park in any spots in the front of the building – there is plenty of street parking available
